My Trip to New York!
My trip to New York was amazing … I flew out to New York on Norwegian Air, which was a great start to my visit. I’ve never been to America before and I wasn’t disappointed. Having arrived at JFK Airport around lunch time I checked into our Hotel and headed straight out to the Staten Island Ferry. It was daylight when I embarked on the outbound leg of the journey, starting from The Whitehall Terminal in Lower Manhatten and the 5.2 mile route takes you through New York Harbour between the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Staten Island. As I passed the Statue of Liberty it was turning dusk and on the return leg of the ferry trip from the St George Terminal on Staten Island the sky was dark and off in the distance I could see the twinkling lights of Lower Manhatten, NYC, drawing nearer, it was really quite beautiful ~ see some photo’s taken on route.
As I was due to commence my KonMari Consultant Certification Course the next morning, I decided to retire to my room to ensure I got some much needed rest ahead of my big day. Due no doubt to pure excitement, I woke early at just after 4am! Unable to sleep I decided to get up at 5am and prepare for the first day of my KonMari Course where I was looking forward to meeting Marie Kondo. The Course was held at the Botanical Gardens in Brooklyn, which was a lovely setting and venue for our course. In total, 97 aspiring KonMari Consultants attended the Course from 38 different countries, which is quite remarkable, the KonMari brand is truly global.
Meeting Marie Kondo was simply awe-inspiring and despite her huge success she remains both humble and grateful. Marie is the epitome of inspiration to us all, having dedicated the majority of her life to the magic of tidying up … and Sparking Joy for so many. She has a wonderful aura, radiating a real warmth about her and coupled with her tremendous sense of humour she ensured it would be an experience we would never forget. It was honestly an honour to meet her and fascinating to hear her speak of her life experiences … memories I shall treasure.
Before heading back home to the UK, I found time to visit the Brooklyn Bridge connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn via a cable-stayed suspension bridge of stone and steel design. It’s really quite impressive spanning 1,595 feet and 133 feet above water and has the most amazing views ~ see some photo’s below.
